Help! Can't Read/Delete Registry Key

D

Darwin

Hi all,

Recently I downloaded and installed demo system restore package. Loved the
software but at a minimum order of 25 workstation licences at $39 a station,
I couldn't afford it for my standalone laptop! Anyway, I now have a key that
I can neither open nor delete. It is under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/POLICIES. I have tried booting into SafeMode and
running RegEdit but to no avail. Unfortunately, the key is blocking the
operation of other software that needs to scan my registry.

Any suggestions on how I can get rid of this key?

Thank you,

Mike

Hi,

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, regedt32 reports that it is
unable to display security information about the key. Neither Regedit nor
regedt32 will allow me to delete or otherwise modify the key in any way. I
am at my wits end!

Thanks again,

Mike

You can set permissions through regedt32.exe, but I wouldn't delete it.
