Kat

I unplugged my tower, moved it about 12 inches, plugged
all back in and tried to turn it on with NO luck. I
opened the case and made sure everything was still secure
and tried to start it again with no luck. I replaced the
power supply and now have power to the motherboard, but
am still unable to turn the tower on. I tried replacing
the ignition switch, but no luck there either.
PLEASE, CAN ANYBODY HELP???????????????

I am on this newsgroup to try and find a fix to a
problem; if you re-read the post, I said that I moved
it, not dropped it. If you don't have anything helpful
to post, please don't waste my time with ignorant
comments.

First off, be nice :)

Second, Is this a P4 or AMD rig? You will need to make sure you
connected the second cable to the motherboard as well as the main power
cable for a P4. Also, check the flip switch on the back of the power
supply. Make sure it is in the ON (1) position and the voltage is set
correctly. This is something that happened to me recently when I
brought my computer home and plugged it back in, the voltage switch got
moved.

Last thought, you may have blown a fuse on your motherboard. Is there a
light that lights up on your motherboard when you turn on the power? If
there is a light and it fails to turn on, you probably have a fried
motherboard. This may have happened by unplugging the computer and
plugging it back in without actually turning off the power supply with
the flip switch in the back. Some extremely cheap power supply units
can surge like this under these conditions.
