can you tell me what the d: drive is referring to? it could be a
seperate hard drive, cd/dvd writer drive .

if this problem hasnt been around for too long and your using windows
xp try this.

start>run> and type in restore/rstrui.exe. use this program to take
the computer back to an earlier date(prior to the problems first
occurance)

i don't really know...I put a blank disc in my dvd, compact disc thing so I
could save a paper to the cd. All it says you do not have access to D:/ see
your administrator for access. I don't know if this is new. I was able to put
music on a blank disc but this is the first time I've tried saving a file on
a disc

You can't save to a CD-R/RW or a DVD+-R/RW using Windows Explorer.
You need special software such as Nero.

It doesn't matter what file you are saving, your CD/DVD writer driver may
became corrupt or your DVD-ROM malfunction.
As Mike pointed you need a third party Burning Tool/Software to copy or burn
Music and such and you will get better quality and be assured your data will
be copied.
Right click My Computer and select Properties from the list, then click
Hardware Tab then click Device manager Button.
On Device Manager open the Plus [+] sign beside your [+] DVD/CD-ROM driver
and see if there is a Yellow exclamation mark or Red X on the CD/DVD Device
and also you can right click it and select properties and check if there is a
conflict.
Try to remove in Device Manger and Restart your computer, you may need to
get the latest driver for your CD/DVD ROM from the Manufacturer website fro
your CD/DVD Specs if windows doesn't have the right Driver for it.
HTH.
Let us know.
