For a while, I couldn't get the Help and Support function to open from the
start menu (XP Home). And I'll also admit that I'm an active add/delete
program user -- always looking for good things to try. After researching and
trying repairs, it now works -- but takes 1 min 40 sec to open. I have no
idea what to look at. Or move. Or download. Or reinstall. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Thank you, Mark. I followed the procedure but received the same result. Help
and Support does seem to work correctly after it eventually loads. As I
monitored Task Manager, helpctr.exe takes 90-95% of the CPU utilization for 1
min and 40 sec, but then helpsvc.exe and helphost.exe load instantly. Might
this indicate a problem/corruption within the helpctr.exe file? And when it
was done loading, it presented an orange flashing H+S label on the taskbar.

The second suggestion to "run a repair (in-place upgrade) installation"
might be a challenge. XP Home was pre-loaded on my PC when I purchased it. I
have 2 CDs here -- "Restore", whose description sounds like it will reload
the disk image when it shipped, while deleting all data, and "Drivers and
Applications", which I believe are things specific to the manufacturer
(Fujitsu).

My thanks for your time and assistance.
