"Help and Support" in WinXP will not start

I installed a program recommended by an online publication ("TraceZapper
WinCleaner" or something). Unfortunately, this program also installed a
couple of well-known, highly unwanted "HelperApps". After uninstalling
the spies, I ran Ad-Aware, SpyBot S&D, Crap Cleaner and RegSupreme.
This removed a lot of things from the disk and registry.

After this cleaning process, I can no longer start WinXP "Help and
Support". When I click on it, the hour-glass is active for a while, and
there is some disk activity, but the "Center" does not start.

Any pointers to how I can restore this feature?

Will and Harry: Thank you very much. "helpctr -regserver" did the trick!
