HELP 5 days!!!!! I give up simple transfer of files........i thin

Ive been trying to transfer files and settings using files settings and
transfer wizard and it is not recignizing the other computer using a direct
connection through my ethernet port with a patch or crossover cable. I also
have them networked together but i think something is wrong there too.
HELP

What do you mean by "I also have them networked together...."? What
other type of network configuration/connection do you have other than
the crossover cable? Do you, for example, have a router that you use
for shared internet access?

A patch cable will not work for directly connecting two computers. The
crossover cable will. However to use the crossover cable you will
need to manually assign i.p. addresses to each computer, make certain
that the two computers are both using the same workgroup name, and
that file sharing is enabled for the drive where the FASTW data is
going to be saved.

With a router in place there is no need to manually assign i.p.
addresses but the other items (workgroup name, file sharing) still
need to be done.
