can someone could help how to set up a home network to share files and
printer. i have a ACER wireless laptop and a desktop and i was wondering if i
could connect both computers so i could access any of them either from the
desktop or laptop.
note: i have a modem and router which means both pcs could the internet

please help ASAP

hey thanks for answering!, ummm there is a little prob. in my laptop when i
run the network setup it says "the wizard found disconnected network
hardware" and only shows the local area connection and no wireless why is
that??. now i did your steps and it somekind of worked. i can access my
laptop documents from my desktop but i am unable to access my desktop docs
from laptop...what should i do?

1) Get both computers connected, and able to access the Internet.
2) Run the Network Setup Wizard on each computer, and select
This computer connects to the Internet through another computer on my network or
through a residential gateway.

Well, if you have one computer accessible from the other, that's 3/4 of the
battle.

The most likely problem would be a misconfigured or overlooked personal
firewall, or other security component. There are several other possibilities
too, and any might be the cause of your problem.

And check the NetBT setting on both computers.

We could look at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each computer, and
diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow
