My first IBM was the Model 12, in the 70's, but that was when we still
used the large punch cards - I loved when we got the small (was it 96
column) cards - so much easier.

Yes, I think they were 96-colimn. I never used anything but the old
80-column cards.

Do you remember drawing a line down
the side of a stack so that you could easily see if the cards were
out of order (diagonal line)?

Sure!

Hey, I just remembered something really funny - the Model 12 had dual
processing units - separate, but shared the printer and disk pack with
each other. Even had a Processor 1 and Processor 2 selector for the
console - funny thing was that no one every noticed it and used the
second processor - batches would take forever :) About 2 days after I
got there I brought up the Dual Processing ability and was able to kick
out almost twice the work in the same amount of time as they were use
too. Even funnier, some of the people thought that you could not use
Processor 2 unless Processor 1 didn't have a job running, so they would
wait for one to finish before starting the other.

Bruce,
Chill OUT!!! Geesh, so hojusaram mis-used and mis-understood the term
'CPU'. Big freeking deal!!! So we 'educate', we don't slam these people.
Come on... really, it's people like you that make novice users not want to
ask questions on newsgroups. We're here to help, to answer questions that,
yes, to us, may seem silly or stupid, but haven't you ever heard the phrase,
'There's no stupid question except for the one not asked?'

I say it again, Chill OUT!! Are you having a bad Holiday Season or
something and feel the need to make others feel bad as well?

Lie and steal?!?!? Oh my, great advice!

LOL! What's wrong with lying? There isn't a person on the planet who
doesn't lie, including you. Breaching an EULA is not stealing because it
isn't a criminal offence. Requiring people to pay twice for the same
thing *is* stealing.
