Heather FIXED IT!!!

Hey guys,

I'm the one that's been on these last couple of days alot
trying to fix my computer problem - the one where I set
my resolution to a different setting and my screen went
blank with a "Out of Range" message in the middle.
Remember, I couldn't get out of the hybernation process
so I couldn't get into safe mode to change the settings..

WELL, I got out of the hybernation process by pressing F8
on startup (instead of the usual menu a different
hybernation one comes up) and I chose to "skip data
restore and go to system boot". So then I was up normally
(yet still not able to see anything) I then held my power
buttom for 5 seconds to hard boot it... and it booted
normally for once!! Anyway, I finally got into that F8
menu I've been wanting to do, and chose safe mode. I went
in safe mode and changed my settings and booted up
normally - THAT didn't work. It didn't save my setting
changes and I saw the "Out of Range" screen again. I
tried hard booting again, and this time went into VGA
mode. Changed my settings there, (just the resolution
settings nothing else)but I had to let the computer
restart by itself to change the settings ("do you want
the computer to restart to change your settings"). I
couldn't manually restart the comp because it wouldn't
save. I had to let the computer do it - thats the only
way it would work. I started back up normally and -
TADA!!!! So to solve this problem - it has to be done in
VGA mode. Didnt have to uninstal video drivers, but VGA
mode is the only way it worked.

Thanks guys!

Thanks guys!

That's Great! :) Now maybe you'll consider turning off hibernation.

Great glad you got it. And thanks for the feedback. It helps us all learn
more.

Yay Heather! I'm glad it was a relativey easy fix for you. With computer
problems, the solution is often not that difficult but finding it
certainly can be.
