HDD Size

Hi,
I have been having problems installing WinXp Home Edition Service Pack2 on
the new computer I have just built, please see previous postings
Reinstalling Windows - Boot Problem. Initialy I used and IDE HDD Western
Digital 320Gb, I have been trying different configurations, disconnected the
Sata Drives to no avail in the end I changed the HDD and it worked. My
question is, 320Gb HDD is this too large for my version of windows, and
should I have made a couple of smaller partitions on, or do you think the
drive was faulty. Your help and advice really apprecited.
Regards and Thanks
Bob

Windows SP1 or SP2 supports drives larger than 140GB, that should not be an
issue. What might be the problem is that your BIOS/Motherboard may not
support 48Bit LBA, which means that you will only see about 137GB of the
drive.

Bob:
You would help others to help you if you don't post your same issue in
a new thread. People (including me) have offered you help on the other
threads you have posted and you should continue on one thread and at
least respond whether or not you have tried the suggestions.

Your response to repost your question in a new thread maybe indicates
the suggestions didn't work. But people trying to help you need to see
a clear history of what you have tried and what hasn't worked for you.

Serial ATA (SATA) drives are the latest in the hard drive fashion and, in theory, installing Windows on the drive should prove relatively simple. The problem is that Windows XP doesn’t contain the necessary drivers to allow windows to see the drive so that Windows can install it.
