HDD problems

I've recently purchased a Western Digital 40G HDD. BIOS recognises the drive but windows has trouble with it. It appears in the hardware profiles menu and is ok, except for that populate returns a "foreign" drive with no allocated or free space. I've tried all the suggestions on WD's website. Anyone have any ideas

I I had this problem once.
There should be an option ... something like IMPORT drive ... either on right-click or file menu.
