HD problem

Hi all! (I hope I'm not OT!)

I've got this problem with an Ata133 Maxtor HD.
It started a couple of weeks ago.
When I switch on the PC, BIOS does not see any more
my second HD in the Secondary Master.
When XP is loaded, at the moment I have to insert
the password, the disc emits strange sounds for a couple of
seconds (I think it adjusts its heads).
After 10-15 minutes I go into the Control Panel and
start Install New Hardware. (If I do it immediately
nothing happens. I have to wait a few minutes.)
Now the disc is seen and works quite fine.

What the hack is it?

anything else on the channel?

click click CLUNK!? not good, run the maxtor utilities
