HD making to much noise

In Bob I <[email protected]> had this to say:

My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:
Could be getting ready to fail. You may wish to replace it before it
stops working.

Additionally you might want to stop using it right now and wait until you
have the new drive in hand. Then using that drive, it should come with a
disk, you should go ahead and copy the information over to the new drive and
replace it. If the new drive doesn't come with a disk then try this:

http://www.pcinspector.de/clone-maxx/uk/welcome.htm

(Note that it's free. It's similar to the older version of Norton Ghost but
doesn't support partition to partition cloning, it only does the whole drive
in it's entirety.)

The noise you're hearing is "Recalibration" seeks.
This generally means imminent hard disk failure.
Back up now!
Download Compact's disk analysis tool.
Do a complete analysis of your hard disk.
If you allow it to do a destructive analysis of the disk, it may be able to
fix some minor problems (remember to back up first). I've seen disks that.
after the destructive analysis, were viable for another cuppla years or so.
