HD Full again??

My kid's computer was completely full and running terriblely 2 weeks ago so
I did a format and reinstall of XP Pro which after reinstalling and
reinstalling all MS Office and other programs they use they were left with
13 gig of a 25 gig HD free. Now it's full again and they haven't downloaded
music or any other stuff that could have possibley filled the HD. Is there
any programs or ways I can find what is eating up all the space on they're
PC?? I tried manually looking into files and such to see what is using up
the space but it is way too time consuming.. Thanks all in advance!

That's where you need to start. Once you know the file names and or location
you might be able to nail it down.

Your kids probably have too much data in their data files. It would be hard
to acquire enough applications (via downloads or otherwise) to fill up a
disk that fast. Do they take a lot of photos? Did they load any movies or
music from disks onto the hard drive? In my opinion, they must be aware of
what caused the drive to fill up.
Did you check the files and folders in My Documents? (At least the quantity
of files, if not the size thereof.) If Windows was installed only two weeks
ago, you would not expect My Documents to have much more in it that it had
two weeks ago.

If they have a lot of favorite, graphics-intensive games? I have about
12.4GB on a 20GB drive; but 95% of the data is on another HDD.

Search for ...all files over 200mb. and go higher. You'll probably find
where most are being stored.

What on EARTH have you installed that takes up *12* *GB* ?
XP Sp2 with IE7 - 2.5 GB. Program files, inc Office 2003 full install, Open
Office 2.02, Acrobat reader 7, Firefox, Thunderbird, The Gimp etc etc 1.19
GB.

Found the culprit, seems Netnanny was the problem, We've used it for ages
without a problem but for some weird reason the error log just went wild and
logged a huge number of errors (obviously). Once I uninstalled it I got all
of the missing space back.. Yes I did do a reinstall of Netnanny, hopefully
this won't happen again, never had that problem before on either of the Dell
PCs which I have it installed on for years... Thanks all again!
