Since downloading Vista I have lost the ability to do several things on my pc
1) I cannot download files through the internet. This includes any media,
word, or pdf files. I'm even having trouble w/ downloading files from
Microsoft

2) I can't use any microsoft office programs

I suspect that my backup file, didn't backup for Vista (I fell asleep during
the update).

Is anyone else having this problem or can someone help me?

I'm afraid you're going to have to add a whole lot more detail to your post.
Otherwise, it will largely be ignored. For example, to just say "I can't use
an microsoft office programs" does not leave us alot to work with. Do you
get error messages? If so, what? What version of Office? What happens when
you try to download a file? What did you use to backup your PC prior to the
upgrade? Where were your backup files written to?

I think you get the point.

Ok...so i'll try to narrow it down more for you. I have Office 2003, still
not able to use it fully. I have tried to uninstall several programs so I can
reinstall them, but for what ever reason I recieve an error message that says
that I am not able to uninstall.

As far as downloading media files, today, I went into administrative tools
under Accesories>MHN, I was unable to start this service and recieved "Error
1083: The executable program that this serves is configured to run does not
implement this service".

I am still unable to download ANY type of files or programs. I don't get
error messages, I just get no results.

I cannot view streaming video or music. When I attempt to view, I do get two
types of error messages. #1 "Internet Explorer was not able to open this
internet site. The request site is either unavailable or cannot be found."
#2 "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this
action. Create an association in the set associations panel"
