Having problem with Norton

Hi, all.

Hoping someone can give this more inexperienced computer guy a smattering of
help.

I'm having a heck of a time getting Norton System works to install due to
the fact that I can't get the previous version of Norton Anti Virus off the
computer.

I've been getting this message upon trying to re-install the NSW:

error 1606. could not access network location"::\documents and settings\all
users\desktop

After selection "retry" several times, I selected cancel. Got the same
message again.

Then received:

"Norton System Works Installation has failed. Do you want to try to install
again?"

I'd select yes, and get the same set of messages.

Any idea what the heck I can do?

Much appreciated.

Jimmy

Clean out C:\Program Files\Norton (assuming that's where it goes)

Search the registry for mentions of "norton" and delete them. Make a back-up
of the registry first though!!

Reboot then try installing again. Works most of the time. Make sure you do
an backup/export of your registry first though!

Fraser.
