Having music play while PPT loops

Hello

I'd like to have a presentation play over-and-over while a single mp3 file plays through to completion as background music. The sound file is about 4 mins 30 secs but one loop through the presentation is only about 40 secs. I'd rather not duplicate the slides 7 times to accommodate the length of the music file. I'm using PowerPoint2003. I've inserted the music file on the 1st slide, as the first of three animated objects. It's starts automatically and plays through multiple slides. I just don't want the music to start at the beginning when the last slide goes back to the first, during "Browsed at kiosk (full screen)" mode

Any suggestions

Thanks...

Hello,

PowerPoint does not have a way to specify that an inserted sound should not
restart in a looping presentation. However, a custom soundtrack does not
have the same limitation.

A very cool option in PowerPoint 97 is the Custom Soundtrack add-in. The
PowerPoint Custom Soundtrack Add-in allows you to add
electronically-generated background music to your slide shows. You can
install this add-in from the following folder on the Office 97 compact
disc:

<drive>:\ValuPack\MusicTrk

If you (or anyone else reading this message) have suggestions as to how
PowerPoint might change it's features for controlling the playback of
"background" sound, don't forget to send your feedback to Microsoft at:

If you (or anyone else reading this message) have suggestions as to how
PowerPoint's presenter tools (such as Presenter View in PowerPoint 2002 and
2003) might be improved to support this scenario, don't forget to send your
feedback to Microsoft at:

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also why it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)

Joe,

How about a simple work around?

Instead of having PPT play the music, start Windows Media Player, Open your
audio file, and set it to repeat, and then minimize it. Now go ahead and
fire off your presentation.

As the persentation plays "on top" of anything else on the screen you will
not see the media player, nrt does PPT have anything to do with it and it
will go on it's merry way following the steps you established. (The music
file will continue to repeat until you stop it.)

Hello Wynn,

The add-in and supporting files are only included with PowerPoint 97.
However if you upgrade from PowerPoint 97 to PowerPoint 2000 of 2002 (NOT
2003), you can download a updated version of the add-in that will allow you
to use the feature with the supporting files that are installed with the
original add-in from PowerPoint 97.

If you never had PowerPoint 97 then you will not have the necessary
supporting files to get the add-in to work with PowerPoint 2000 and
PowerPoint 2003.

Here's a KB article that describes how to upgrade from 97 to 2000/2002 and
get the add-in to work with them.

Man, I looked for that thing, but I never *did* find it. Suppose that's
because I was looking in Office downloads, not in the KB itself. So, since I
couldn't find the download, I figured I was misremembering.

Thanks for posting this.
