I shut my computer down while a message was transmitting. I can't delete it
or open it. It has slowed down sending emails considerably.
I want to get rid of the item & I have tried everything.

File - Work Offline.
Wait a couple minutes.
Try to delete the message.
If it still fails, File - Exit.
Restart Outlook and stay offline.
Try to delete message.

If it *still* fails, say what version of Outlook you're running.

I am having the same problem, the message is still sitting in my outbox, but
it has been sent hundreads of times ..... this is really frustrating!

And did you follow the steps above? I'm assuming you didn't since, as I
said, if it still fails, say what version of Outlook you're running, which
is something you didn't do. So, if the steps don't work, reply back with
what version of Outlook you are running, as the next steps are trickier and
vary from version of outlook to version of outlook.

Actually, come to think of it, the version of the OS could be helpful too.

Thanks, that worked

I am under the impression that one MUST stop and restart Outlook after
selecting Work Offline in order to actually go offline and my (admittedly
brief) experiments show that to be true. Is it not?
