We found and visited the Cross support site. The closest we came was
an NT driver. The serial port test went fine, and we were feeling good
as the installation progress bar marched clear up to 100% when we got
the cyber finger telling us that wintab32 could not be installed.
Cross site said it's because of a previous installation of wintab32. A
search of the machine revealed NO wintab of any flavor. Cross does
list an 800 number, but - who has installation problems during regular
business hours <G>
Maybe someone else has solved the riddle - thus my [desparate] post to
newsgroup
