has anyone noticed any performance improvements with SP1?

I have seen many complaints and many positive installs, but not much word on any system
improvements... Performance for example.

A program that would not run (Click to DVD BD) now does!
Start-up takes longer.
File downloads much quicker.
Thas all so far....

Superfetch will initially be slower as the original file was deleted
when SP1 is installed.
It will then retrain and come up to speed.

I noticed some improvement in desktop performance. It pulls up applications
a little quicker. File transfer is better. I just did a test between
networked computers. Outbound transfer pushes my 100 Mb card / cable /
switch limit. Inbound is another story. It's about 25% but that is double
what is was before SP1. Still testing.

Transfering from computer to a USB drive = faster. Transfering to a network
drive wirelessly = Same as before (slow)

I'm seeing USB 2.0 external IDE drive performance about 5 MB/s out / 10.5
MB/s inbound about 3 time faster than before SP1.

Entirely subjective, but my laptop seems a bit "zippier." Programs seem to
load faster, internet browsing is faster, file transfers (wireless and usb)
definitely seem faster. In the past, I've had trouble copying large and
media files -- explorer would crash. So far, that hasn't happened. One big
thing: there is much less disk activity and load on the cpu. I haven't hit
anything that doesn't run. SP1 installed on my machine, even though I have
one of the "forbidden" drivers -- a finger print reader. Installation was
flawless.

I also haven't had wireless issues, e.g. the computer suddenly losing the
wifi nic (fixed by disabling and re-enabling), losing dns, losing dhcp, etc.

So far, I'm pleased.

I've only had it for a day, but I would have to say yes. I'm using Vista
Business on an R61 Thinkpad with 3 gig ram. Outlook 2003 definitely opens
much faster, as does Firefox.

And more importantly for me, the Intel video driver I had to update to get
SP1 to display in Windows Update (I used WU as a test, I always install from
the full file download) seems to have fixed a sleep-related bluescreen that
was the one problem with this laptop.

If I closed the lid and opened it, it would only be a question of how long I
had to the bluescreen. Closing the lid required a restart for reliable
operation.

I couldn't tell what the offending driver was previously, and Lenovo didn't
seem to know, but since both updates the system has run perfectly, and
faster. So the fact that SP1 came with a list of drivers known to be
problematic was a tremendous help to me.

Hopefully I won't have to take that evaluation back tomorrow.
