Hi,
I need to harden a xp pro machine on a domain .

what services I can disable so the machine will be more secure and in the
other hend,the user could also continue working ?

That depends a lot on the functionality you need. You can for instance disable file
and print sharing, but that will remove the ability to manage it remotely via
Computer Management. Since this is a big subject with many other related factors to
consider I will give you the link to the excellent Threats and Countermeasures Guide
for Windows XP and Windows 2003. The second link has much more info to Software
Security Policies which is a major way to secure an XP Pro operating system. ---
