I like really need help! I posted here before about restoring my
harddrive...but didn't help to much because I couldnt do anything about it so
I did a clean install, or so I thought I did.........

My problem is I inserted the windows xp home edition disk, then did the
installation process, and thought that if I installed windows xp home edition
on the already partitioned drive I would still get my old files. But then
windows said that something was wrong and it would have to format it....

So i went back and deleted the partition, and then went on to install the
new windows on that selection.

It told me it would have to format so I accepted it and did a full format
option.

It took me over night to do it and then in the morning windows xp home
edition was installed.

I looked at my harddrive, and it said I have 31.something GB's of space Total.

When my Harddrive is supposed to be a total of 120 GBs.

1) Is it possible to retrieve those lost GBs or would I have to buy a new
harddrive for this case?

Any help would be great!

Yes I formated in NTFS!

Excitable..

Okay - so you chose NTFS. What does DiskManager show?
Does it show the rest of the space for the drive?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309000

(And I am not sure why you would have to buy another hard drive.. Explain
the reasoning there, please.)

If you format the drive, you lose info on it. if you just create partition
a small partition and format that, you may be able to get some company to
retrieve some files on the part you have not touched but It will take some
time and no guarantee. Check out On and a few other places. they will
certainly cost you.

Ok well I should have stated my harddrive info:
Maxtor
Ultra Series
7200 RPM
ULTRA ATA/133
120 GB 8MB Cache

Ok well I looked at Disk Managment and it said I have 31.48 GB of total
space :(
I also looked at Max Blast and it said I have 33.81/33.82 GB of space.

Well it seems like my 88.52 GB's of my harddrive are gone.

My problem first started from this post:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...port&mid=7ef21c06-bfd8-4377-aeef-cbc8825845cf
Then I formated and posted this new thread.

I also have 2 images of Disk Managment and Max Blast.

Thanks for any response/help I can get at this point in time with this
problem.

I also liked your comment from my post "Excitable.."
