Harddisk activity

I have 2 computers
One is running great, it's my main PC. (2.4Ghz 1 Gb RAM
The second one has a problem

There is constant harddisk activity even when th
computer is doing nothing
I have used a harddisk monitor and it says that
the computer is writing small files (122 something? Kb? B?
in a constant stream to my harddisk. (about 6 or 7 per second
Usually HD0 but sometimes HD

I's a 650Mhz with 256Mb of RAM, so when playing
games that just barely run on it (battlefield 1942
it realy bothers me. it slows down everythin

There are no apps running
I can't fid anythig in the running processe
that seem out of place..

Nu viruses found by Kaspersky or Antivi
It's not my virusscanner (the disk acces stays when i shut it down
I have tried to shut down every process in the
running processes windo
Used Adaware... NOTHING WORKS

Can someone explain
And maybe give solution to this annoying problem
It's doing this just about 2 days now
didn't have this problem before
I haven't installed any progs

Just a thought here, but since you've only got 256MB of RAM on that system,
Windows may be using your swap file on the hard drive for data that cannot
fit into your random access memory. That'll cause intense hard drive access
every time. Of course, the next question becomes: how large is the paging
file, how fragmented is the drive, etc, that would cause additional
slowdowns. But in reality the amount of RAM is going to be your number one
issue here, it sounds like.
