I remember reading about that story (linked here), and I'm hoping that it was just one particular jobsworth getting carried away - rather than an actual rule! There are always going to be ultra-PC stories like this if we look hard enough, but most of the time it is just down to someone not thinking things through or just being silly. Although - I can't imagine anyone not applying for a job because the advert requires them to be reliable 
This story reminds me of a fuss kicked off by a student union officer at Manchester University, who decided that having male and female toilets wasn't politically correct. You can watch an interview here, it makes me cringe just watching it. All the students were bemused and it caused many more problems than it solved in the end! If it was that much of a problem, they could have just built uni-sex loos like they have on the continent that anyone can use.
Thankfully I do think that most people have common sense

Yikes! How very confusing.
That poor soul with the green hairdo is going to find life pretty hard-going if she continues to strive for political correctness in everything, methinks
