Hard drive upgrade

I want to install a 160gb drive. I currently have 2 40gb drives, one as C,
the other as D. Each of my current drives is set up to run WinXP - one for a
'home' user, the other for application development (VS.Net), because I don't
want to keep IIS and SQL Server running all the time. C is the common start
up, but that's the drive I'd rather replace. What pitfalls should I expect
if I replace my 40gb C drive - I know I'll need to reinstall application
software, but beyond that, what are the 'gotchas'? I run Office XP, some
games, music and video stuff on C, not on D. Thanks in advance.

To install a drive larger than 137Gb you better make sure your motherboard's
BIOS will support the larger drive; Windows XP SP1 must be installed, 48-bit
LBA will have to be activated.

You must be using XP with SP1 and have a BIOS that supports '48 bit LBA'
if you are to be able to use more than 128 GB (binary based; 137 to
compare with your 160 figure)

I have WinXP SP1. How can I find out about the BIOS? I've tried pausing boot
up and found a reference to 32Bit LBA (set to off), but can't get into the
bios or find bios settings under WinXP. Thanks for your help.

Bios settings have NOTHING to do with any OS.

Thanks for the responses. I know the bios is independent of the OS. I
checked on the motherboard and bios version and found that I'm set. Thanks
again.
