Hard drive partitioning with Windows XP Pro

G

Guest

I just installed a new Western Digital 80G hard drive. My goal was to
partition it into two equal 40G partitions. I insertet my windows XP dics
and created and formatted the first 40G partition. I then proceeded to load
Windows on that first partition. The problem I am having is how do I access
the other nonformatted 40G partition? It is not recognized in Windows
explorer. If I insert the Windows disc again, as if I'm downloading another
version of Windows, it only recognizes the formatted partition. I did format
in NTFS if it makes any difference.

I use the Western Digital 3.5" floppy utility and it gives me the option to
partition and format. But it wants to erase the data on the entire 80G drive
and start over. I want to be able to access only the unformatted 40G
partition and format it. My BIOS recognizes all 80G. Any help would be
great.

Thanks,

Eric
