im having some problems after upgrading cpu and hard drive and installing
windows xp home. on my computer tower i have many extra drives such as a sd
pro reader and a cf/microdrive. After the reinstall of windows it has
asigned a drive label of i: to my hard drive and a c: to my usb drive on the
front panel. I have tried to change the label letter in disk management
because i want the hard drive set to c: drive but it wont let me. Can anyone
help me PLS. It would be greatly appreciated

The only way that happens is when you have other hds installed during the
windows xp installation.Thier is no possible way to change the OS letter
after
installation & work properly.Disconect all add on hds,other misc,reinstall
xp by
booting to xp cd.

You can change the drive letter of any drive *except* the one Windows is
installed on. The only way to get the hard drive to C: is to reinstall
Windows cleanly, making sure all the "many extra drives" are disconnected
until after Windows is installed.

But there's really no particular reason that Windows has to be on C:. If I
were in your shoes (and I'm actually in very similar shoes; Windows is
installed on F: here), I would just leave it as it is, and not worry about
it.
