I have a c & d drive and need to clear up space on the
c. What is the proper way to move application files from
one drive to the other?

Uninstall the application(s) in question from the C: drive using Add/Remove
Programs in the Control Panel.

Reinstall the application(s) in question and select a Custom Install,
specifying the D: drive as the target. Remember that some files MUST be on
the C: drive, both in the Registry (in Windows) and sometimes in Common
Files. I have come across some applications which do NOT have any Custom
Install options, so you cannot install these on the D: drive. It's either
C: or nothing!

Also, I would suggest seeing if there are any unnecessary files or
applications that you can remove before changing the location like this.
Finally, make sure to make a backup of any files that you might want
to keep as they sometimes get deleted when you uninstall applications
(and your settings will all be gone depending on the program).
