This could be caused by either the power supply or the hard drive itself
failing. To test for the power supply, swap it out for a known-working
one. If that works, you know you need to replace the original power
supply. To test the hard drive, use a diagnostic utility from the mftr.
Usually you will download the file and make a bootable floppy with it.
Boot with the media and do a thorough test. If the drive has physical
errors, replace it.

Hi

Have you got the Indexing Service running?

Please reply to the News Groups.

It could be one or two of many different cases.
-- It could be indexing services. You can turn them off to see if that is
the cause, but it is good to have then on.
-- It could be your antivirus running in the background.
-- It could be a disk defragmenter or something similar running in the
background.

Without more information, it is hard to say. Is the computer working OK?
Does it have any problems? What operating system (is it XP Pro, XP Home,
what?), antivirus software and other software might you have running?
If you have XP: Do you know how to use Task Manager?
IF you have XP: Do you know how to find the Event Viewer? Both are in the
Help files.
You must provide more information.

Pop
