Hard Disk Partition

i m running Windows Vista Home Basic. I have got 3 Primary Partitions
(Including EISA Configration), One Extended Partition in whic 1 Logical Drive
and 2 Unallocated Spaces(10GB & 55.82GB). I want to Create another Partition
using these Unallocated spaces. I right click an unallocated space and select
New Simple Volume, then click Next, then enter the amout of volume size(Full
10224MB) and click next and then assign a drive letter and click next, select
NTFS File System and Default Cluster Size(Allocation Unti Size) and click
Next and then Click Finish. But I receive this error message "There is not
enough space available on the disk(s) to complete this operation". What is
this. Why am i not able to create a partition.
My Hard Disk Type is Basic.

As I recall, Windows has a limit on partitions. Only 4 primary
partitions can be created. Also, primary/extended partitions can only
be created from "free" or "unallocated" space on your hard-drive.

It seems to me you are trying to create a partition INSIDE the extended
partition. I don't think this is possible. You could create more
"logical" drives there - but not another partition.

I think you are at your limit with Windows. A partition manager can
shrink your extended partition and make free & unallocated the unused
extended-partition space. Then the partition manager could add that
space to one of your primary partitions.

I could be wrong about this ...
