hard disk full

When starting my computer, an error came up about the
operating system, so I reinstalled Windows XP. Now, my
1.5 GB hard drive is telling me that it is practically
full. Yet, all of my progams, files, etc. seem to be
gone. I'd rather find my old stuff, but can accept it if
they are gone if I get my space back to reinstall
programs. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any and all
help.

1.5 Gb is not awfully big these days. But if all you have
installed is the OS then you should still have some space
left.

The most likely scenario would be that you created another
partition on your drive for the latest install. Is your
drive actually 1.5Gb big now?

I'm surprised XP actually *INSTALLED*! Read the system requirements - you
will find it *REQUIRES* 1.5GB for a *MINIMUM* installation.

If the 1.5GB is not a misprint, your cutting it to close. My XP Windows
program is 1.47GB. You need freespace. As cheap as hard drives are , buy a
new one, Kate. ( If you have reinstalled Windows and did a reformat while
doing so , your programs would of been erased ). Jym

It is 1.97 Gb. It is using 1.53 Gb of space and has 449
MB available. How do I delete a partition or 2, and how
do I know which one to delete. I could delete all of
them and start fresh. Anyway to get back to any of my
programs if they are still in a partition somewhere?
