halflife problem with windows xp

everytime i go to play an online multiplayer game it
errors and crashes but when i reinstalled halflife and
tryied to play it i got this message:

Half-Life has a known compatibility issue with this
version of Windows. For an update that is compatible with
this version of Windows, contact Sierra.

wondering if any1 knows this problem or can help
me...thanks
