Had to reinstall, now have new user name AND old user names but can't use! Help

Ok, had some problems so had to reinstall Win XP.

Created a User Account like it asked for during
installation. Now, I see that all of my old stuff is
here, but under this new name, I cannot use like MS Word
or Excel, etc.

Also, my old user account names ---- which I want to use -
--- are still there. Any way that I can once again use
these, or not? When I try to "switch users", there's no
option to.

Just an idea, but how about renaming the old folders to be something
slightly different, for instance, if they were:

"Brent's Documents", rename them to "Brent's Old Documents".

Once this is done, create a new account called "Brent", just like your old
account. Once the account folders are set up, after logging in as the new
'Brent', copy the documents from "Brent's Old Documents" into the new
"Brent's Documents".

No easy way to do this as far as I know.
