GUM OFF OF MY BOOT

Is anyone else receiving (without solicitation) "stock alert" and "Attention
Home Owners" email? It's like telemarketing...and it's very annoying. I've
diverted it to my spam folder, but I would prefer to eliminate it from
coming to my email address entirely. In the past, I have found that replying
to these types of unsolicited emails usually results with you being dragged
even further into their automated system. How can I get this "gum off of my
boot"? Any suggestions?? Anyone???

Most people receive this.
It's like telemarketing...and it's

You can't prevent it from being addressed to you. The best you can do is
prevent it from being retained in your mailbox. This generally requires a
filter on the server or a proxy that sits between the client and the server
that filters them out prior to their reaching the client.

First, see if you ISP offers a junk mail filter on the server. Many ISPs or
mail providers do. You can also use tools like SpamBayes or Mailwasher or
services like Cloudmark.

Just to catch you up with the rest: Bill gates isn't giving any money
away for people who forward emails, you won't have anything horrible
happen to you if you don't forward an email, and there's no nigerian
dictators relative that needs help transferring money anywhere. Did I
miss anything?

Did you miss anything? I would say:

1. Pharmaceuticals via Internet
2. Software cheap - especially Microsoft software
3. Cheap mortgages
4. Penny stocks, or stocks of any kind
5. And the untranslatable Cyrillic emails.

Anything else? I am sure I missed a few.

You've pretty much covered the types that I get. I particularly like
the Spam with dadaist poetry as the subject.
