Groupwise 6 wont open Excel attatments

Hi,
I'm having a problem with Excel 2002, opening attachments from groupwise 6. What happens is, I get an email with an excel attachment, double-click, and excel opens up, but not the document. I have tried re-installing both the Groupwise client and Office XP, and I have tried re-creating the .XLS file type, but with no success. Has anybody else had this issue?

Did you install Excel AFTER installing Groupwise ?

Originally, No....However, both applications have been uninstalled and reinstalled in different sequence a few times...with no improvement.
