Groups not displaying posts

Hi All.....
I've had several responses I've made to posts the last couple of days not
display correctly. Both this Group and the Worksheets Group......sometimes
my response just does not show up.......sometimes it shows up and disappears
shortly thereafter......sometimes I get a notice of reply and when I go to
check it out, there are no responses displayed.........

Anybody know what's up?

There can be several explanations. The most likely....

It appears that you are using the web interface to MS Discussion Groups,
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups . That interface is
notoriously unreliable. My theory is that there is poor communication
between the web server and the news server within MS.

I have switched to using Outlook Expression to access the MS news server
directly. That seems to be reliable. However, I don't know of any way to
receive notifications when a reply is posted to a thread you started or to
an interesting thread.

However, do keep in mind that there can be delays between posting a message
and when it appears on the news server, even if you post to and read from
the MS news server directly using OE. Since I'm not familiar with the MS
implementation of the response notification feature, I don't know if a delay
is possibe.

Also, there can be delays between posting on one news server and seeing it
on another news server. In fac, there can be a complete failure to ever see
it on another news server. For some reason, it is very common for the
Google Groups news server to never receive (or at least display) the initial
message and some responses posted to and visible on the MS news server.

You don't get an instant notice of replies but you can "watch" a thread.
Message>Watch Conversation. Then, if you want, sort so that watched threads
are on top (what I do).
