Grouping on key word

I have a spreadsheet of data imported from another source. There are subtotal
rows for groupings for one of the columns. Is it possible to group on the
total row other than manuall grouping? The spreadsheet has over 15K rows and
the total groupings are between 5-8 rows each. As you can imagine this is a
tedious endeavor...

Do you have a key indicator column in your data?

If you do, then I'd delete the subtotals that are imported from that other
source.

Then sort by this key column
and use data|subtotals
to get the subtotals and outlining/grouping.

Unfortunately I cannot delete the total row because it was calculated in the
source tool using a % of row calculation that I cannot replicate using the
subtotal feature unless there is something that I am missing?

Further thoughts?

Maybe you can add an equivalent formula on the subtotal line.

But I don't know if that's possible in your case.
