Default Windows firewall and group policy won't keep you from getting to
the Internet unless you are on a corporate lan. If you are on a
corporate LAN, talk to your IT guys. If its a home machine, let us know
more information so we can help.
Dennis, I have internet access but, certain servers I should say such as lime
wire and even my avg anti virus for an exemple, I get a message saying there
is a firewall blocking connection or a loopback in my system. I have tried to
setup my windows firewall but it tells me certain options and being controled
by Group policy and that my windows firewall is off! Does that help? thanks

Ok Dennis I guess you aren't reading my message's correctly! Like I wrote FOR
EXAMPLE, yes I did mention limewire ONLY FOR AN EXAMPLE! This is a clean
install of XP home w/sp2,fresh. I can not even connect to update my AVG
antivirus database. There are other servers I'm having the same trouble with.
As I said I recieve a message stating , windows firewall is turned off and
some settings are being controlled by group policies. My question is how do I
turn off group policies and turn on my firewall? I am on wireless broadband
and am the only user on this pc. I hope you have a better picture. Thanks for
your time and I hope you can help.
A fresh install should not have any group policy set.
If you are on a network the server can enforce group policy on your system.
