Group Excel table with objects?

How can I group an Excel table with other objects? When I select the table,
the "group" option is greyed out.
 
Excel table in PP2003 is a collection of cells .Select table , ungroup it ,
then select every other shape you want to include in grouping , and the table
itself ,and group it again.
