"GREYED" OUT ASSIGN BUTTON IN MACRO RECORD BOX

The assign button in the Record New Macro menu is greyed out, therefor I
can't finish assigning the macro with the New Shortcut Key procedure in Word
on my Windows XP software. Why is assign greyed out, and how do I get it
back?

Sorry. This is the Microsoft Access Database newsgroup. It appears
