Because of sight difficulties I want to set the default colour of Word to
grey - easier to read than on white.
Can anyone advise?
Using Office 2003.

This can only be accomplished by setting _all_ editing windows to the same
shade. Right-click a blank area of the Windows desktop and select
Properties, then click the Appearance tab. In the Item dropdown, select
"Window". Click the down arrow next to the Color swatch.

If you don't like any of the few colors there, click the Other button for
the full color picker. A true grey results when the Red, Green, and Blue
numbers are all the same, and larger numbers give shades closer to white. I
prefer an eggshell color, with Red and Green set to 250 and Blue set to 236.

And I use "ivory" (255, 255, 225).
