Green triangles in cell corners

I took an excel file and modified it in Microsoft Works Spreadsheet. Then I
saved it in .xls Excel format and loaded it back on the computer with the
excel program. When the file is opened now it has little green triangles in
one corner of the cells. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of them. They do
not print however.

Thanks anyway but I have found the answer elsewhere. Go to tools menu and
select error checking "off" option.
