does anyone know what the green screen of death is?
this is my first time getting the gsofd in my life time.
i have gotten the sbsod before but never the gsod.
can someone please help me look into this.

i just got it today on my evo laptop.
i usually startup my evo with the multibay battery in the multibay port
but this time i started it up differently.
i started it up with the multibay dvd-rom drive in the multibay port.
the od CD was in the dvd drive as well.
this was the 3rd time i started the evo with the dvd drive in it.
the first two times were when i originally installed the os
and when i needed to restart it after that.
i have started the evo with the ls-120 multibay drive in it without this
error.
how did i get the gsod this time around.
i have reimaged the evo a few times.
this is my most recent image install of xp.
the gsod appeared while the boot screen image was still running.
u know how the pc restarts after the bsod appears, well the pc does not
restart when the gsod appears.

does anyone think they are the samething or what?

You are going to have to elaborate....

Did it have any text on the screen?

Did it reappear upon a reboot?

it apeared while the boot screen was going.
it made that freeze up. you could sorrta see that in the background of it.
there was a hell of a lot of txt on the gsod compared to the bsod, like 3x
more.....
it was kinda overwelming for me to read it....
most of it was like an error message.
i don't remember what it said though. sorry.
anything else ya need to know?
any ideas?

Was it the XP Boot Screen or a boot screen for your motherboard?

It could be an error associated with your hardware, rather than XP
itself.

it was the xp boot screen.
maybe. or it could be a combination of both.
I'm leaning towards the hardware/ combination of both.....
the error happened when I booted up the pc with the DVD-rom multibay drive
instead of the multibay battery like I usually do.
my evo laptop is a phone model pc, ooo how ancient.....they don't make those
anymore.
i got the evo laptop before ho brought out compaq.
the laptop is like 6 years old.
some of the spare parts i have for it are older then the laptop itself, like
my pcmcia card.
i stopped using that though because i replaced the broken w200 WLAN
multiport module on the monitor.
the w200 is the only part i have for the laptop that is newer then it.
all the other parts are basicly from 1995. ecept for the ls-120 drive, which
is from 2002
and the DVD-RAM read drive that is from 05.
i still have the original dvd drive and two spares.
i also have two floppy drives as well.
the two spare dvd-rom drives and the two floppy drives are left over part
from the armada laptops i used to have.
