The green box is there because you're using NTFS. It denotes that the
folder is Read Only. Or that the folder's contents possess an
"indeterminate" state, meaning that some of the contents could be
protected by permissions.

A Read Only state on a folder should be ignored and is ignored by well
behaving software. It only makes a difference when a file is read only. To
change the attribute on a file, use its properties sheets instead of the
folder properties.

Hi Jack,

For folders:
The Read-only and System attributes is only used by Windows Explorer to
determine whether the folder is a special folder, such as a system folder
that has its view customized by Windows (for example, My Documents,
Favorites, Fonts, Downloaded Program Files), or a folder that you customized
by using the Customize tab of the folder's Properties dialog box. As a
result, Windows Explorer does not allow you to view or change the Read-only
or System attributes of folders.
