Grayed out close box

I have two users who have their close button grayed out when they start Excel 2000. They can close the program through File->Exit, but would rather just click on the X in the upper right corner. One possible commonality is that they both seem to have changed the default fonts on their machine, but that just may be coincidence

Any thoughts
