graphics in a word document

I've created a document in Word (Office Pro 2003) with several graphics.
I've set all the images to be stored in the document via Links|Update. When
I print the document everything is fine.
However if I send the document to someone via an attachment in email
problems arise. They are using Word 2000. The document displays correctly on
the screen with all images looking as they should. BUT when the document is
printed all the images disappear. Don't print at all. The text portion of
the printed document is formated as if the images were never there. The
images are formated for wrapping set to Tight.

I'm stumped. Suggestions????

If you've set up the graphics to be linked rather than embedded, then when
you send the document you need to send the graphic files also. The received
document initially displays OK because Word 'remembers' the graphic; but
when you print, the fields are updated, Word tries to re-read the graphics
from file, and can't find them ...

Either send the graphic files separately, or embed them rather than linking
them.

Ahhh! Now I see. Many thanks.

I'm still confused about this link/embed of images.
Here's the situation. The document has been created in a genealogy program
and saved as a Word document. When the document is saved the genealogy
program tells me that to view the images in the document to Click on
Edit|Links, highlight all the image names, check the Save Image in Document
box and Click Upgrade Now. Now all the images are visible and linked. This is
obviously not desirable since I want to send the document to others as a
file. Without sending along several dozen image files.

Can the 'linked images' be changed to embeded images? How?

I thought that perhaps just breaking the links and saving the document would
do the trick. Doesn't seem to.

My head hurts from all this thinking! <grin>

The option you want in the Edit Links dialog is 'Break Link'. This saves
the image in the document and removes the link to the external file.

That's what I thought. But when I did it (broke the links), saved and then
sent the file, the images still did not print.
