Graphics don't display

I'm running IE6.0. On some sites the picturesw or graphics
display briefly then disappear. If I refresh the screen,
the picture appear briefly and disappears again. What do I
need to do to correct this.

It sounds like another program is blocking them, but, obviously, not before
they load.
