Hi all hope u can help.

Ive recently installed Windows XP Pro on the machine and
for some reason the computer does not detect the graphics
card. Ive tried to insall the latest drivers for the
graphics card and nothing has changed. Im not sure if it
is the right drivers that i have installed but does
anyone know where to find nvidia gforce 4 drivers, the
drivers that i have installed are from www.nvidia.com.

Also as i try to install a game and an error appears
L_Rastreiser: Create Device could not find device for
direct 3d. Then it asks if i have installed the recent
drivers for the graphics card. I have installed the
recent drivers for the card but it dosent detect a card.

Can anyone help please.

I'd recommend removing the curent drivers that you have installed, go into
device manager and remove any and all existing display adapters, reboot and
when the graphics card is detected, point it to the drivers that you
downloaded (have them exracted and ready to install in a directory on your
system).

The download should be from:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_53.03

After that, go to Windows Update Site to see if there are any updates
(direct3d and such).

That is odd. I don't think that I've ever seen a machine that didn't at
least have a default VGA driver listed under display adapters.

How about going into the advanced button on your display properties settings
tab? Under the Adapter Tab, what does it show? Can you click on properies
then on the Driver tab and click update drivers?

You won't be able to detect and install drivers for a monitor until you have
a graphics card properly installed. It's just strange that it's allowing
you to view the desktop and use the computer without a detected display
adapter (even an incorrecly detected display adapter)
