Graphics card help

F

FRIEND

I have the Intel® 82845G Graphics Controller. Is that a
graphics card? I don't know much about this area of
computers. How can I tell if my graphics has its own card
or if it is on-board? I don't want to open up the case.

I can't get any games to run on my PC, so any help would
be GREATLY appreciated.

I have a HP PC running Windows XP Home Edition
CPU - P4 2.6
RAM - 3/4 gigabyte DDR.
HDD - Over 40 gig free.

Please help. Thanks.

Hello Friend,

It's not a graphics card. It is a chipset though which controls
graphics much like a graphics card would, just not as well.

To find out everything there is to know about your 82845G visit:
http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/intel845g/ Intel did a
really great job on that page. I hope that it helps! :)

You can still install a standalone graphics card on your system,
especially if your games all require Transform and Lighting.

Thankyou!

I think I have found the problem. The Intel Game
Controller has a video memory of 8MB. In the game read me
file, EA says the minimum system requirement is:

"Video Card: 32MB Direct3D Video Card with DirectX 8.1
Compatible drivers."

Is this why I can't get the game to load? Can I use some
of my HHD space to expand the video memory, or is that
impossible?

Once again, thanks for your help!

Hi Friend,

You cannot use your hard drive to expand the memory of
your Intel Graphic Controller unfortunately. When I was
in your situation I bought a DX 8 compatible card and I
have never had any problems with any games since! :)
