Graph cutting - Excel cannot paste the data.

Hari

Hi,

I have created some graph templates (3 graphs) with linking to a table for
source data. Each time I get new data I paste the data in to table then cut
the table and move it to another worksheet. Then cut the Graphs and move it
the place where table was moved.

Basically Im making this graph for data based on different company sites

Since there are lots of sites and other variables so what I do is to make a
copy of the worksheet which has the template, then paste real data in it
then cut the table and graph.Afterwards I delete the newly inserted sheet. I
keep on doing this for each site

After doing this for around 20 times or so, yet another time I cut the 3
graphs and moved to the place where their table was moved before this. When
I did paste of the graphs then Excel displayed a message that "Microsoft
Excel cannot paste the data".

I tried paste special but in this it gives options for pasting as picture or
enhanced (Metafile) only which is not useful for me.
I have saved the file and tried the sequence of operations again but excel
doesnt allow me to paste any graph which I cut in this worksheet.

File size is just 1 MB. its just that number of graphs may be 50 or 60.
Please guide me on why this problem is there and how to resolve it.

(Strangely if i copy the graphs and try pasting it , excel displays the same
message of not being able to paste.)

Is there a limit to no of graphs etc?

Hi,

There may be a limit - particularly related to memory
usage for the clipboard and not clearing all the way
after multiple uses (charts take up a lot or memory).
- in Excel 2002, Help states this:

"The Office Clipboard can hold up to 24 items. If you
copy a 25th item, the first item in the Office Clipboard
is deleted.

Collected items remain in the Office Clipboard until you
quit all Office programs running on your computer or
click Clear All on the Office Clipboard."

Hi,

In Excel 2002, when the clipboard window pops up showing
all the latest things copied, there's a clear all button.
(You may have turned if off using the Options at the
bottom.)

Hi Jeff,

Thanx a lot. Found it in under edit "office clipboard".

One thing im not able to understand. U say that "particularly related to
memory usage for the clipboard and not clearing all the way".

But u also state that "The Office Clipboard can hold up to 24 items. If you
copy a 25th item, the first item in the Office Clipboard is deleted after
multiple uses

If copied data is already getting deleted "Office Clipboard is deleted after
multiple uses" then how is "not clearing all the way" possible.
